The Chancel Choir and brass on Easter morning

Music

Music at First Congregational

Every voice is appreciated here, whatever its training. From the classics to contemporary, there is something to sing or play all year.

The Chancel Choir

Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir welcomes adults from high school on and sings every Sunday at the 10 AM service during the school year. Rehearsals are Wednesdays from 7 to 8:30 PM, from the last Wednesday in August through May. Directed by Dr. Gerald Kreitzer.

The handbell choir

Handbells

The handbell choir, directed by Cathy Bixby, rehearses Wednesdays at 6 PM during the school year and plays in worship about once a month. Bell experience is not required.

The youth choir

Youth Choir

For grades 3 through 8, directed by Cathy Bixby. Rehearsals are Wednesdays at 6:45 PM, and the choir sings in worship about once a month. See the Children and youth page for more.

Instrumentalists and summer music

Through the year there are chances for instrumentalists to play for special services or as soloists. In the summer, while the choir rests, vocal and instrumental soloists and small groups provide the special music. Contact Dr. Gerald Kreitzer or Doris Gitzy, our organist, to share your gift on a Sunday.
